Haruto Miura: from Japan to Darmstadt 98 in under 4 weeks

27 October 2026 · 3 min read · By LHCoaching

Haruto Miura joined our International Soccer Program in July, coming from Kashima Gakuen High School in Japan. Less than four weeks later, several clubs wanted him. He chose SV Darmstadt 98, a club currently playing in the 2. Bundesliga.

July: a new country, a new level

Haruto came to Frankfurt in July. New country, new language, new football culture. None of that slowed him down. From the first days he trained with our coaches every day, and it did not take long before people started to notice him.

That is the first thing worth saying about his story: talent was never the question. Haruto had it before he arrived. What he did not have was access to the people in German football who decide.

Seen by the right people

Within the month, Haruto went through our scouting day and several trials. Not at random clubs, but at two levels that matter: with U19 teams of Bundesliga clubs, and with U21 teams of clubs in the lower professional leagues.

The result came quickly. Haruto ended up on the scouting lists of several Bundesliga clubs. For a player who had been in Germany for only a few weeks, that is exceptional, and it did not happen by chance. A trial is only worth something if the person watching can actually make a decision. That is the difference we work on every day.

Talent needs a stage. And people in front of it who make decisions.

Several offers. One decision.

At the end of the program, Haruto had several offers on the table. He chose SV Darmstadt 98, a club currently playing in the 2. Bundesliga, with a youth setup that is built to move players towards professional football.

We did not make that decision for him. Our job was to put real options in front of him and to explain honestly what each one would mean. The choice was his, and it was a good one.

Two teams, two levels

What makes this move special is how it is set up. Haruto will play for two teams at the same time:

For a young player this is the ideal combination. He competes at the top of youth football and gets his first taste of senior football at the same time. That second part is what many talented players miss. The step from youth to adult football is where careers are often decided, and Haruto is taking it early.

What made the difference

Haruto's story is fast, but it is not luck. A few things came together:

This is the beginning

We are proud to be part of Haruto's path. A contract is not the finish line, it is the start. How far he will go, the coming months and years will show. We will keep following him, and we will keep telling his story.

If you have the talent and you are serious about football in Germany, this is exactly what our International Soccer Program is built for.
